    Hi All,

    I have had, and continue to have a perplexing issue with encoding to H.264. I am editing 29.97 DV SD footage. I want to encode it to H.264 for web delivery. Whether I export via QT Conversion or bring the FCP QT Current Setting DV movie into Compressor – either path to H.264 produces interlacing fragments on movement. I have tried changing the field dominance of my DV sequence in FCP from even to none, then exporting. No difference. I have tried Deinterlace filters in Compressor. No difference. I have turned on Frame controls in Compressor and selected Progressive as this is intended for web only viewing. No difference.

    Why is this happening? Does anyone have tips for working in 29.97 DV and finishing in H.264?

    Hi Dave,

    Pretty sure I’ve been doing what you mean here – I’ve been exporting a self-contained movie in its original DV 29.97 format 720×480 out of FCP and then bringing that DV Quicktime into Compressor. When I go to H.264 (at 640×480 for the web) I get interlacing…

    Would it help to bring in a 640×480 QT into Compressor (as oppose to self contained original 720?)

    I also get interlacing when I export directly out of FCP with QT Conver.

    Thanks for any thoughts/tips you might have!

    You must set NONE, but you need to drop a de-interlacer filter in your footage.
