  • Interlacing a progressive sequence for Decklink monitoring – bad idea?

Lately I’ve started using Premiere again as an alternative to FCP 7 for DSLR edits. I’ve added a broadcast television to my setup for use as a client monitor, but run up against the irritation that my Decklink HD Extreme 2 outputs 1080i50, but not 1080p25. In Premiere this means that I can’t monitor any 1080p footage: I just get a black screen.

I’m wondering about creating an interlaced sequence preset for editing so that I can still view footage on the television whilst cutting, and changing the export setting to progressive again when the cut’s finished. What I want to know is, will this potentially cause me unwanted interlacing problems, or should the cut be exported as if it was cut on a progressive sequence all along?
