Interlaced footage upon output
Final cut has been playing back my sequence and it has been fine no interlacing problem, but upon output of it I get this result:

but if I go into VLC’s video options and choose discard I get this:
https://twitpic.com/1n5pjnWhy is final cut rendering it out in this way? And how do I fix it? The source is 1920 x 1080i, and it is to go on DVD Pal

Are you only viewing your export on your computer monitor? Try viewing it on an external monitor, or just send it to DVD and go stick it in a DVD player and watch it on your TV. Computer screens are progressive and TVs are interlaced, so your computer screen is displaying both fields at once. It looks like VLC is compensating for this by blending or eliminating one of the fields.

Your destination can be either interlaced or progressive, but by default it will be interlaced.

Hi every one thanks for the tips, I sorted it out by outputting it as HDV 720p, was just defaulting to interlacing. Thank you !
