Interlace Artifacts on Progressive Files
I have footage that was shot on a Panasonic HVX200 1280×1080 24p. The original .mxf files were dumped from a firestore to an external video drive and imported into Final Cut Pro as .mov files. The FCP user who was going to edit the footage has failed to do so, so I have taken over the edit process. I received a direct copy of the .mov files to an external drive, and purchased the Calibrated DVCProHD codec which allows me to work with the files in Vegas.
Unfortunately, even though the files are progressive, there appear to be interlace artifacts, combing and ghosting. A friend and I ran over a dozen file render tests with de-interlacing with widely differing results. Even the best results still had a significant amount of combing and/or ghosting. Has anyone on here had similar experiences, and, if so, is the best solution to this found in Vegas or a third party software which could help?
Thanks In Advance,
-Mitchell
