Hi. I’m planning to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Quad – Q6600. Can After Effects 7.0 use all cores on this processor? Is this processor comparable with the slowest Xeon quad cores, or should I just save more money so I can buy a Xeon instead? Thanks and God bless.

some filters use multi-processing, some don’t. but you can use the great background renderer while working with the other cores. or you get nucleo pro. why don’t you take the newer and cooler intel q9450?

Thanks Daniel. The intel q9450 is still not available from the shops here and if it is, it’s probably still expensive. BTW, do you think that AE CS3 can more efficiently use the Q6600?

I think it should. You can activate “rendering multiple frames at once” in the preferences; AFX then does the same as the background render script; it starts render-instances in bg. If you have enough ram it should boost your rendering.

    Thanks Daniel.
