what am I doing wrong? I realize that this is probably a very simple thing for the scope of the experience on this site, BUT. . .I am trying to put some text over a video clip and apparently I have the settings wrong. A ten second text clip over the beginning of a 6 minute clip. I am following the directions in both the FCP help (4.5 HD by the way) and FCP for Dummies (obviously I am a dummie).

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance

Confirm you have an in set on the text which is loaded in the viewer, and that the in is more than ten seconds before the end of the text clip.

    Click in the time line.

Set an in where you want the text to cut on.

Set an out where you want the text to cut off (ten seconds later.)

Confirm the source control and destination control buttons are connected. v1 (source) should be touching V1 (destination.) This on the left hand side of the time line.

Confirm your auto selects are all toggled on. These are to the right of the source and destination controls, just after the icon that looks like a lock. When they are toggled on they are dark on the inside.

Confirm all of your lock icons look unlocked.

    Hit F12
