I’ve been having an unusual problem with Premiere Pro CS3. When I render clips, my computer will instantly reboot itself. As a workaround, I can render very small portions at a time and it doesn’t always crash. However, for a big render (such as exporting to DVD), it crashes every time.

    Here is my system:

    Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 motherboard
AMD Phenom 9850 2.5GHz quad core processor
ASUS EAH3870x2/G/HTDI/1G ATI HD video card
    Seagate Barracuda 500GB and 1TB drives (7200RPM)
    G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK 4GB (2x2GB) RAM
    750W Power supply
Windows XP 32-bit (tried with Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3)

I’ve put as many of the parts as possible back in my older computer and have ruled out that it’s probably not the video card, hard drives, or RAM. No rendering problems on the older computer, but I hate for all the new parts to go to waste. Do you think there is a compatibility issue within my hardware? I believe I have all the drivers up to date.

I’m looking to get CS4, so I definitely want to have this problem ironed out before I do. Appreciate any suggestions!

This happened to me periodically. A complete reinstall of all Adobe products fixed almost all crashing problems.

Try a test render using Movie Maker or any product you have that renders. If it still reboots, look into CPU cooling problems.
