Installing FCPS3 on Lion Workaround – Has Anyone Tried This?
So I just got a new 17″ MacBook Pro and I really would love to be able to install my FCP Studio. While digging around I came a across a supposed workaround where you can use a Snow Leopard install disk to run a selective install of Rosetta and QuickTime 7.
Has anyone heard of this or tried it themselves? Would you expect any compromises in performance or potential issues with the machine afterwards?

I think you may have FCS 2 and FCS 3 mixed up. Though I haven’t tried it, I believe FCS 3 can be installed under Lion; it’s FCS 2 that requires the workaround you’re asking about. FCS 3 has some issues running under Lion, but I don’t believe installation is one of them.

FCS3 will install on Lion without Rosetta. The problem is FCS2. However unless you need Lion FCS3 reportedly works best on SL so you could blow away Lion and reinstall SL on the new computer

I am waiting on my new MacBook Pro with Lion (and Thunderbolt promise raid, and Matrox thunderbolt converter, happy happy 🙂
I called Apple (Netherlands) for their official point of view/installation guide:
– FCS3 on Lion is possible, all applications will work
– Install the suite in the normal way
– Don’t start any app yet!
– Run software update several times, untill it doesn’t update anymore
– Then run the appsHaven’t tested it yet, still waiting on shipment…
