    Hi All,

I recently installed Studio 3 on my mac book pro and FCP 7 will not open? It begins to open goes through its paces on the opening window and then just stops with the first window still open. I did have Studio 2 on there from before and FCP 6 still opens. Did I make an error when Installing? It was not an upgrade version I was using. Should I delete all the Studio 2 apps first? Do I need to upgrade the older versions first?

Yes, download FCS Remover from https://www.DigitalRebellion.com and use it to remove all traces FCS 2 & 3. Then run fix permissions, then reinstall only FCS 3, and type in your old serial number when requested.

Sounds like the install didn’t go through. While you can install over apps, you shouldn’t. When ever possible you should wide the HD, do a fresh install of everything. But understand that is often very hard to do. I would always recommend a total uninstall of FCS before any new install (or upgrade) this is not something you can do manually, you need and app. Link below to a free app (check out their other stuff, a must have for any user)

there are tons of post on the best practices from installing/upgrading, either Shane Ross or David Weiss has the best instructions to date if you want to go looking.
