Install just compressor & qmaster?
Hey all!
I am interested in installing JUST compressor and qmaster on some 8 core MacPro’s so I can do some super fast h264 encoding… BUT I want to do so without installing FCP Studio.
Is this possible? And is it possible without needing new license for all? (perhaps slightly illegal??)
I think I read somewhere that you can do this with q-master.. but never anything about Compressor.

You need FCS on each node you plan to use, end of story.
You can choose to install it without the other apps if desired.Kevin Monahan

unless things have changed since studio 1, all you need to install is qmaster on all the other networked machines to build your cluster. Compressor is not needed on any system other than your edit station, which is good since you’d need a separate license to run it on other machines.

Interesting. Don’t you need a FCS, Shake or Logic license for each node?
