I encourage everyone to download and install Final Cut Pro X as soon as possible. I advise this not because X is better than 7, but rather because I don’t like to try the 1.0 versions of any software. The more people that use X now, the sooner the bugs and problems will be discovered and patches issued to correct them.

Don’t purchase it if you don’t have the extra cash to test it with.

Learn Avid and Premiere, FCP will be out of professional eye within months unless you want to edit for $12/hr. That’s who will be hiring you if all you know is Final Cut X

Final Cut Pro 7 still works just like it did yesterday and will for some time to come. There are quite a few people that still use FCP 5 & 6. Will FCP7 work on Lion? Doesn’t sound like it will. But you don’t have Lion right now anyways and won’t need it til your current computer keels over and need to upgrade. So for now FCP7 works.

“Final Cut Pro 7 still works just like it did yesterday and will for some time to come.” How true. How true. Nobody in the audience cares about the editing software.
