  • Install FCP 5.0 on new MacBook Pro, then upgrade to 5.1?

Posted by Bob Roberts on December 12, 2006 at 5:52 pm

I’m thinking about getting myself a Xmas present in the form of a MacBook Pro. I currently run FCP 5.0.4 on a G4. I’d like to crossgrade and put 5.1 on the MacBook Pro.

But, will I even be able to install 5.0.4 on a MacBook Pro? Do I need to before installing the crossgrade?

I’m just trying to map the road out before I make the purchase. Any advice is appreciated.

Get your cross grade in now, it ends really soon.

Then all you have to do is install the new cross grade when it shows up on your MacBook Pro.

It is all new application install disks. no need to install 5.0 first.

Yeah, I saw the deadline for the 20th. Thanks for the help.

I believe you can only run FCP 5.1 on your MacBook Pro due to it being an Intel processor. Versions prior to 5.1 are Power PC only.
