install adice on FCS 2 in an ACADEMIC environment
Hello Everyone
hope the summer finds each of you well
Ok, I admit that I only quickly scanned the last few weeks worth of posts so I do not know if this particular question has been asked so I am not trying to double post intentionally
anyway
I am here at a university in Ohio where I shoot video for use in the classroom, I have a small little mac outfit (1 G5 desktop, 2 imacs and another imac on the way, all machines are up to date on OS related software) anway I currently run seperat seats (licenses) of FCS on each of these machines (these are the academic version, so when you purchase them you get a full install not an upgrade)
Just so you know I have used Final Cut since ver 1.25 so I am very used to the “process” of doing a clean install (OS and all) on my machines prior to installing a final cut upgrade
However, I recently attended an Apple trade show for academic users and the gentleman doing the presentation actually said that you do not need to do a clean install in order to install FCS 2 he claims it will simple install the new shiny bits right into the existing FCS (now granted he said it in a differnt way but you get the idea)
so bottom line, my question is for those of you in academic situations (labs, etc) that are using the ACADEMIC version (which is the EXACT same version as the retail, EXCEPT you don’t get an upgrade you get a full install disc) how are you installing the new software, are you just putting it into the drive, clicking the check boxes and letting it go ?
Man this is one time when a Phillip Hodgetts (sorry if I butchered his last name) how to upgrade the right way article would be handy)
thanks all for your help
take careTodd George
