    Hi Guys,

We are new users to FCP, been working on it for under a month, and in the process of kicking our old Discreet edits out of the suites and replacing with new shiney FCP suites, and are having a small issue printing to tape, we are able to assemble a sequence no problem but as a test I have the placed two edit points in the sequence and made the clip black and white to look att how accurate the machine is for inserting a clip back into the tape.

Upon Inserting the section of clip at the end of the play out it places a few frames of black over the sound and picture. Has anyone seen this before

We have a G5 Quad2.5 with 4 gigs of Ram
    OSX 10.4.7
    FCP Studio 5.1.1
    Decklink Extreme software version 5.6.2

    Any assistance would be great

    Thanks in advance

The insert function works great. I use it all the time. Had to fix something in an intro for a Doc that was already mastered out to digi. I made my correction and just iserted in the edit to tape window. Frame Accurate and everything. You might want to check the mastering settings tab on the edit to tape window. It could be that it is defaulted to have a trailer for a certian amount of time. My guess is that is your problem.

You have to calculate your deck’s offset. I could explain it to you, but the manual does a decent job.

Look at the FCP help PDF and page 332, “Calibrating Timecode Capture With Serial Device Control”

I’m an old edit user myself. I have an SX machine and have the same problems as you when it comes to inserting. If you close the sequence and just drag it in from the browser you will find that it should work. For some reason with assemble you can have the squence open and not have any problems. Still learning it myself.
