If you use blade all, just map it to ‘b’. Select in point, hit b, select out point hit ‘b’, decide your fate from there.
The thing to remember about fcpx is that it doesn’t work like tracks work. There are some commonalities, there are some differences. Figuring out how the timeline “moves” takes a while. At a certain point, it clicks, and you may find that there are many efficiencies to be gained. Or not.

November 19, 2018 at 12:31 amI do appreciate your help.
I don’t know if this is bad form, but can I ask you a question about something else?
I can’t seem to trim my audio. It’s a separate audio track, not part of the video primary story line. I go to trim tool, and try to drag the edges and they go nowhere. No problem on the video portion. Grrrr! -

November 19, 2018 at 12:52 amYou don’t need the trim tool unless you want to roll, slip, or slide. You could be placing it right over the center of the edge and trying to do a roll with only one clip. Move it slightly to the side with the clip and it’ll change to a single size trim icon. Or just use the regular A tool and there won’t be the roll confusion. Either way you need to also have the audio expanded with ctrl+s.

I am rolling, so as not to lose sync. In other words, a double sided trim, which afaik can only be done with trim tool
[Bret Williams] “Either way you need to also have the audio expanded with ctrl+s.”
I have that as well, though I’m not sure it’s necessary since it’s a separate audio track to begin with.
I can trim the video with no problem, but when I go to the audio it just won’t budge.
Maybe I should start a new thread? -

November 20, 2018 at 12:23 amOk, so it’s a separate audio clip. But is it on the primary or grouped with another audio clip in a secondary? If not, there’s nothing to roll.
