This may sound stupid, but I cannot find a way to set an In Point or an Out Point. I am sure everyone hates this phrase but, Here it comes… In AVID I can hit a hotkey and enter an in point or enter an out point. the same can also be done in the sequence. Is this not possible.

    Thank In Advance.

It is possible, and with the exact same keyboard shortcuts. “I” for IN, and “O” for OUT. Works just like it does in Avid. Keyboard basics are the same….J-K-L and I-O.

Yes I & O works for me, but annoyingly if you drag a title from the bin to the timeline WITH an I O marked, Premiere doesnt respect the out point!
Id love to know how to make it respect the I O

O.K…. I think I got this lost in translation. I can go far enough back to say the words CMX3600 or Grass Valley Switcher
(and oh man do I miss those days sometimes.) On my old CMX there were buttons that read “Set In” & “Set Out”.
I could hit said buttons and type in my time code… i.e. Set in 00:00:01:00 and this would set the in point for 1 Sec.

That’s what I am looking to accokplish. Thanks for the Quick response to my Original question. I just wish I hadn’t wasted your time.

You can type in timecode in source/program/sequence panels.
