  • Input Video ref vs REF on K2 output

Posted by Steve Covello on January 8, 2007 at 5:42 pm

Since I installed my Kona-HD and then the K2, I have had to deal with this edit room being the only one that requires setting the DBeta to Input Video when I output to tape, rather than just leaving it in Ref for input/output for everything else including I/O and Avid. This is really annoying to remember every time, and it’s hard to train assistants to remember this too.

Has there been an update since day one of my install, or an alternate setup in the Control Panel that would eliminate the necessity of switching the reference?

    Steve,

Are you having this problem if you lock the Kona to house sync and leave the AJA control panle set to ext. With it set up this way you will never have to change the D-beta ref input.

    Hi Steve –
this is correct info. You should never have to change the control tab to change the reference. It should remain on REF VIDEO (for external reference) forever. If you are having issues with this, you should bitch to AJA about this directly. I assume you have a good black gen.
