    Hi there

I’m trying to create the same text effect at the start of Grand Designs

    Seen here at 0:15:

In order for each character to write itself I believe I can use the pen tool to create a mask then use the Stroke preset effect and START / END to keyframe the mask and reveal the letter. Do I need to type out each letter as a separate text layer or is there a faster way?

Note, I want each character to reveal at the same time, not a writing effect from left to right.

    Thanks

Working with text layers from Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas Pro, if you do plan to have each individual letters appear one at a time like if its writing, then perhaps you will need to make a text layer for each letting and that will take a lot of video tracks so they can all appear at the same time. The other way I can think of without going through that hassle is to find a way for a full text word/sentence fade in from left to right slowly using a special effect. Not sure how it works on After Effects but I believe I have seen people on YouTube use this effect before.

This is what I found that can help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii5ougA3yHE
