I’ve got some old Indeo 5 files I’d like to import.

I can open them and play them in Windows Media Player, but if I try import them into Premiere, I get the following error: Unsupported compression in file.

OK, if I don’t have the codec, why can I view it in WMP?

It looks like I can download an XP version from Ligos ($15) but would rather not if I don’t have to.

    Any thoughts?

I had to buy the codec to able to even see it in MediaPlayer. Perhaps you have an older version MP, or your XP is pre sp2 or even pre sp1?
Quality is great, but editing is sluggish on my system (pretty fast CPU).

I’m afraid I’m going to just have to cough up the cash. It is weird though that I can view it in MP no problem… I just can’t “do anything” with it.

    Thanks

    Brodd:

It looks like I can open in (believe it or not) Windows Moviemaker and export as an AVI.

I tried a test on my Avid at work and well, it worked.

I’ll let you know if it works comeing IN to premiere.
