  • Indentation on Extrude Nurb?

    Hi folks,
I’m trying to make polygon indentations on the face (start cap) of an extrude nurb. I’ve tried using object/connect and function/optimizing as well as parenting my nurb under a connect object. All to be able to edit and add points in order to create a small polygon on the cap of the nurb. Then I use the inner extrude and extrude tools to try and make that new polygon sink into the cap. I am able to extrude the shape outwards from the cap — but when I try to sink into the cap, the object disappears (behind the cap).
For the sake of simplicity, say I create a coin with a circular spline and extrude nurb. How would I create a shallow cylindrical indentation in the middle of the coin? Thanks for your time!

I would use displacement in the texture.

    Thanks Randy,
I hadn’t considered that approach. So if I understand correctly I would design a .png or .psd with the shapes I want to indent (surrounded by alpha?) then bring that into the texture panel in the displacement section which would be assigned only to the cap surface, is that right? Thanks for the suggestion!
