CS4 has a nasty and unbelievable bug. I suppose the rush to get those upgrade fees outweighed the slightest care in testing the product. This is one of the worst bugs I have ever seen in any Mac product.

This bug will apparently only manifest itself if you have AUTOSAVE ON and an AUTOSAVE has occurred.

Here is how I found out about it.

    1. I opened up a project that needed some revision.

    2, I did my revisions.

    3. I quit AE (AE did not even ask me to save!!!).

    4. I opened the project for more revisions without realizing that my earlier revisions were not there.

    5. Much confusion.

All the above is completely reproducible.

An app that doesn’t protect the current state of the document is UNPRECEDENTED in my experience.

To be clear–you can work on an existing document and then quit the APP without getting the CORNERSTONE “Do you want to Save” dialog.

    Disgusted,

    Lance

Be sure to visit adobe.com’s discusssion areas and cruise through the CS4 posts.
On your PC or on your Macintosh?
Almost every PS application will allow you to exit without saving. It’s insane, yes, never understood that but it’s never been changed AFAIK.

I’ve been seeing several Macintosh products over the last few years that have adopted this insanely ser-aggressive close-means-exit paradigm. I’d be very surprised to learn that Adobe’s Mac versions have been changed to this silliness.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

I’ve been experiencing this since upgrading as well. It’s one of the many irritating bugs I’ve encountered since moving to CS4.

This bug has been fixed in the 9.0.1 update. I have some details on my blog:
