  • Incorrect Aspect Ratio when rendered

    Hey All-

Im round tripping 3 spots to and from FCP 6.0.1 and Color 1.0.1 When I render transitions or effects back in FCP, the aspect ratio is either stretched or squished for the renders only. The RT preview is correct.

My original sequence is DV50 16:9. Rendered media from color is ProRes. New sequence in FCP is ProRes 16:9.

I’m not sure if this is a FCP settings problem or a Color render problem. Any insight?

Make sure that when the media is back inside of FCP that all of the individual clips have the ‘anamorphic’ flag turned on. Quicktime does a horrible job of writing this flag into movies in a way that FCP and other programs can understand it. You have to hold it’s little hand sometimes. You might have to do this within the timeline itself as well.

    Hello Jeremy,

The hand holding to which you refer; what twitch where for individual clips, if you don’t mind.

The other post pretty much explains it. Make sure the anamorphic column is checked in the FCP browser.

    Thanks Jeremy

That may be the cause of his problem, but it wasn’t the cause of mine.

    Regards,

    Ty
