  inconsistent playback issues need help.

  I’m not sure if this is a Final Cut or a Color problem so please forgive me Admin for posting here and in Color Forum to get as many thoughts on this as possible; here’s my workflow:

  import XD cam Bpav folder with newly acquired plug-in > build edit plus motion effects > remove all motions add a quicktime bake (at this point forgot to remove constant speed change on one of the clips) > go to color and grade > back to FC > re-input motions > tweak colour effects using FC 3 way and other effects (at client’s behest!) > export as self contained QT > go to DVD SP > set prefs for HD to SD DVD 1080i > add MPEG folder to assets > create simple menu and tracks with end jumps named button etc. > burn DVD.

  OK my problem is that when my sequence came back to FC it wouldn’t play properly (before any extra FC effects were added), especially over my first few clips with I suppose the most changes HSL curves etc. were performed.

  I didn’t worry too much about this because the night before I had problems and posted on here and was advised to move my Color docs folder to my 2nd drive in order to help smooth playback in FC.

  So even though I had moved the folder I was still getting jerky playback (though smoother than when Color docs folder was on boot drive), I thought that maybe this was just a problem within FC and it wouldn’t be apparent once I exported.

  While I was building in DVD SP I was getting the same jerky playback on my preview over the first few clips; again (stupidly) I assumed this wouldn’t translate to the actual finished DVD.

  My problem is that it does, and I can’t work out why I’m getting this jerky playback over these clips, the rest of the DVD plays like a dream; also the jerky playback is over the earlier HSL adjusted clips but not the later ones.

  Also I’ve exported an H.254 1920×1080 and this has the playback problems if I play it on my PC but not on my MAC, can anyone tell me what’s going on please as I really want to put this job to bed.
