Making a sub-clip or even editing a clip with the trim tool is not working as expected.

I have one clip made from stills that I cannot for the life of me change with the expected tools.

I want to simply select a section and lift it out and make a sub-clip.

No matter whether I use keyboard shortcuts or icon clicks in viewer or on the timeline itself the clip simply duplicates itself with the same length as before or it always ends with my IN point. I have tried 3 different ways to select an In point followed by an out point but all I wind up with is a new clip that has the same start point as the master clip and ends where I selected the out.

This is a clip that will not lay down and obey my commands!

I think you had better explain EXACTLY what you’re doing. There is no button in the viewer or the timeline to make a subclip. You can’t (Well, you can, but you shouldn’t) make a subclip of part of a sequence. It just makes another sequence. While we’re at it, why are you make a subclip of a still? There’s no point at all in that. Also, does the still have transparency and/or multiple layers, which means it’s most likely a sequence and not a clip.

    All the best,

    Tom

Yes, Tom, the sequence explanation probably fits my problem.

So apparently I was using the sequence version rather than the .mov clip. This was manufactured from a stills folder using an FxFactory plugin….MultiSwoop. So, it is a several minute “slide show” with simulated 3d movement even though it is composed from a folder of stills.

I did make an .mov of this sequence but didn’t see the specific extension in the browser window to tell me that I was working with the sequence. I had thought that rendering it made it editable even as a sequence.

I was viewing this in the Viewer window and marking In and Out and then selecting the Make a Subclip icon which then deposited a subclip in my bin. But I was confused that the subclip didn’t respond to the in and out points.

Thanks for your response, Tom, and giving me a CLUE!
