I recently received some XDCAM footage from a shoot and managed to get it working in Media Composer 5.5 by downloading the XDCAM AMA plugin and linking the clips via AMA. The clips were converted from whatever is on an XDCAM disc into individual .mov files for us.

The AMA linking process has worked and the footage looks great, but there are a couple of things I would like to work better, so I figured I would try to get some input from the cow.

    1) With the XDCAM footage linked via AMA I cannot export Same As Source, which is my normal workflow for getting things to the compression software. I normally use Panasonic P2 media linked via AMA and it doesn’t produce this issue. I’d like to be able to export everything Same As Source instead of having to change my workflow a bit anytime a project uses the XDCAM footage.

    2) The AMA linked XDCAM footage all include 8 tracks of audio! These are b-roll shots and I don’t need the audio at all, so I have to manually deselect all 8 tracks anytime I want to add the XDCAM stuff into a timeline.

Any ideas for how I might smooth either of these issues out?
