  Improving dismal playback performance on 2 yr old iMac

  Currently I get realtime playback of 4K files (from a Canon 1DC) within Premiere Pro CS6, about 50% of the time, along as I’m not using any dynamic links. This is on a 2 yr old iMac.

  3.4 GHz, i7,
  16GB RAM,
  AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024MB GPU

  I haven’t done a detailed comparison, but I seem to get even better playback performance within FCPX.

  But, the holy grail for me, round tripping to Resolve, is simply not an option because of the extremely poor playback performance. I get maybe, 6 fps on average within any Resolve timeline, with the exact same footage.

  Are there any settings I can adjust within Resolve that will improve playback performance with 4K files?
