Importing/Capturing footage from Sony HDR-SR11
I just recently purchased Sony’s HDR-SR11 and have no idea how to get the footage into my Avid software. I’m currently using Xpress Pro HD and cannot import the .m2ts files and the camera connects to my laptop by USB. Does anyone know how to do this or what I need to do?

I have recently bought the HDR SR12 and I had the exact same problem. I searched for hours online looking for answers and have come to this conclusion. Avid does not like any formats but its own so I was forced to buy Sony Vegas. Its not as professional as Avid but it will accept all sorts off formats plus you can burn your HD movie onto a DVD in a kind of Blu Ray form and it will play in a Sony Blu Ray Player (I use the PS3) Another pro is when you import it just appears there ready to use unlike Avid which does this strange incoding which takes ages. Sorry if this was just repeating what you already know but its the only option I have found.

I actually ended up going to Sony Vegas as well… Had to get used to the interface (not too difficult), but it seems to be working good. Thanks for the info though.

I guess it is just a matter of time until Avid get up to speed with new codecs but until then Vegas seems to work fine. Also because it is consumer software there are stacks of tutorials online to help you. Can I just ask you how you export movies (settings etc)? I haven’t found a good quailty format yet that is a good resolution apart from burning a blu ray file.
