I’m wondering if it is a proven safe method to import and use XDCAM clips in a FCP project directly from the BPAV backup folders that are archived from the original media source via Clip Browser VS. importing those clips directly from the SxS or SDHC card itself and into the project?

I think it would be much faster to back up the media cards onto a hard drive using Sony Clip Broswer first, then import those clips using XDCAM transfer directly from the BPAV folder created on the hard drive hard drive within a Mac Pro VS. the USB connection of the media card. I just need to know if there is a critical performance or verification step of the imported clips that is being skipped if you went this route?

I haven’t tried yet in fear of losing footage. I have 10 full SDHC/SxS cards at the moment and I’m hoping the backup/import time can be cut down by doing this…

    Thanks!
