I haven’t been on here for a long time as I only do a little video editing now, having changed career to become an actor four years ago; so apologies if this sounds a bit naive.

I’ve bought a dvd recorder to record off the tv. In particular I want to record a show I’ll be in shortly so that I can then edit some of my scene into my showreel, using FinalCutPro.

However, when I bring to my iMac the dvds that I record from the VirginMedia cable tv box, it tells me they are blank. This happens regardless of whether I have recorded directly on to the dvd, or first on the the recorder’s hard disc and then copied on to a dvd; and whether I use a +R or a -R.
Conversely, the dvd player cannot read dvds created on my Mac.

Is there a solution, anyone, please?

    Thanks! Albert.
