    hi,

    I have some footage recorded to the internal hard drive of a dvd recorder and im wondering to get the best quality if i should burn the video to a dvd and rip it, or should i capture it by analog?

    I don’t think there’s an easy answer for this, but my guts would say rip it from a DVD. If the D/A conversion is really good on the player, it might look OK… might try both?

    I agree with Jerry. Test it. Compare the component out (or s-video) of the player to an MPEG Streamclip export of the DVD’s VOB to ProRes.
