Hey there, I have two video files that I imported from DVD that are exactly the same (854×480 Linear PCM, Apple ProRes 422) Quicktime movie.
Now I import them into a new project in FCP and what happens is one file will import and render automaticallywhen dragged to the timeline but when I open up the other file and drop it on the time line it either gives me the (cant find the codec for this file or it has to render.) I tried switching the order of placing these two files on the timline and the same thing happens in reverse…?? I tried reimporting these two files in a different codec and I get the same problem. What am I doing wrong..or is my FC corrupt.?
Any help from my CC genius’s??

The first thing I always do when FCP weirdness happens is trash prefs, repair permissions and run Disk Warrior.

    Hey John,
I finally got to try your fixes, how do I repair permissions? Plus I tried taking these two video files and put them on my FC on my laptop. I get the same error once I add the second video clip on the timeline”codec not found you may be using a compression typ without corresponding hardware”

    Hi,
Does anyone that know the following:

    I’m running RTx.100 with Prem 6.5.
I need to give some video clips and ppj (timeline) files to a guy running FCP.

Can I just give them to him and they’ll run?

Or do we need to get Automatic Duck or some other kind of file converter pgm. And if the former, exactly what model?

    Thanks
    pat
