  • Importing Quicktime movie with multitrack audio

    Good day to you all
I need to get a bunch of quicktime files (more than 15 hours of recording) with 1 track of video and up to 24 tracks of audio to from Final Cut Pro to a clients Media100i 8.2 system. Fortunately we have both of these systems here at work so I can fiddle and experiment before I get this workflow going.

I have generated a test file with 8 tracks of audio from FCP no problem. When I import it into Media100 it does come through and the clip viewer has a note saying 8 tracks audio in it but there are no switches to select any of these. Only the video switch is visible. When I drag the clip into a sequence I get only one track of audio, track number 1 I think.

Is there a way to import a multitrack quicktime file into Media100 or do we have to try something different?

    Thank you

Why don’t you try exporting an OMF with all tracks?

I think the M100 version you are using is too old (aren’t they up to v11 by now?)

FCP has only been able to capture multitrack audio since v5.

Try the OMF solution David suggested.

And why did I not think of that? Thank you guys, I will try that solution. I guess I will have to deal with the 2GB limit of OMF exports…

    Hello again,
Media100i 8.2, being what it is, cannot import an OMF file, oh well, any other suggestions?
    Thank you.
