August 2, 2013 at 10:44 pmBut wait…there’s more.
The downloadable MXF AMA plugin will not help you on versions of Avid below 6.5.
I tried it on v6, with the 1.7.2 AMA plugin and it will not recognize the media.
Avid MC 7 works fine, and I am told 6.5 also does. But older versions do not. The AMA plugin for MXF included with MC 7 is v 1.9…newer than the downloadable version, which is 1.7.2. -

August 2, 2013 at 10:58 pmThat’s strange, the v1.7.2 AMA plugin worked fine for me on Media Composer v6 on Windows. Perhaps there are other snags in the process – certain audio configurations or flavors of DNxHD that are being rejected.

Hmmm. Maybe I am spreading misinformation, and there is some other issue on the system running MC 6 that I tried it on. Its not my system.
It was also Windows. I’ll stop repeating this until I can investigate further.
