Importing Photoshop File With Text Into FCP X Shows Up As Black
I’m a novice with Final Cut Pro X, but I’ve used FCP 7 extensively, so I know that the process of importing .psd files into FCP used to work relatively seamlessly. However, today I was working on a Photoshop file in which I need to animate some text and superimpose it over a video.
I have about 50 text layers, all of them rasterized, and several images, all of which have had their layer styles flattened. I export the .psd file using the Maximize Compatibility option, and when I preview the file on the desktop using Quick Look it displays correctly. However, when I go into FCPX and import the .psd file and put it on the timeline it shows up as completely black.
I have the viewer background set to checkerboard in preferences, and the problem is only when I play back the video. If I scrub over an individual layer it appears as transparent. I’ve tried placing the .psd file in by itself, I’ve tried placing it over a solid white background, yet it always shows up the same.
Any help would be appreciated, I’m pretty lost here.
