Importing PDF Documents For Animation
Hi there
Our client handed us a 24 page PDF document which they would like to animate in after effects. I’m aware that AE will only accept the first page of a PDF document, but I’m wondering if anyone has found a work around for this so that they can access the other pages? We’ve got the full version of Acrobat and are using the snapshot function to export the pages out, then re-create them as individual PDF’s however there are numerous cropping problems etc.
Anyone had this problem?

Your taking the wrong approach.
Open them ALL in photoshop by shift clicking on ALL the pages when you open it in PS. Make sure to keep the resolution reasonably high (150 – 300), and then create an action to save them all in the same location. Import the photoshop docs to ae and you’re good to go.

You have the full version of Acrobat and don’t know how to use it for your benefit? What’s with “extract pages”? What with “split document”? What with “Save all images”? Really, you are making things harder on yourself than need be. All you need is to separate the pages into individual documents and then import them into AE. I’d only use PS as a last resort and if you are sure you want to freeze your layers. If you have, use Illustrator to create new crop marks in your separated documents and clean up all irrelevant data.

My mistake, I thought we had the full version of Acrobat, but in fact, its only the full version of Reader, not acrobat, the photoshop method looks like the way to go.
