  • Importing MXF files (created by XDCAM Ex Browser) into Final Cut ?

    Hi,

I have some footage shot on an EX1, we had to clean the cards quickly and didn’t have a chance to import the footage into FCP directly. so we copied over the CARD directories onto a hard drive, FCP couldn’t read them so I used the PC based XDCAM EX browser to import the files and output then as MXFs, so far so good, but now I can’t get the footage into FCP, I’ve installed the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import codec but it doesn’t seem to work..

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

You need to get the Mac version of XDCam Transfer. It makes .mov files encoded with the XDCamEx codec, one each clip. These open and can be edited in FCP. No need to log and transfer. Drag and drop them into FCP and edit away.

Each clip carries the name of the original clip and all metadata is preserved and embedded into the QT.

Yes I have this, but it doesn’t seem to work unless the Mp4 files are on the SD cards, is there a way to make it point at another source?

I just realised I can add the folder from my hard drive into the XDCAM transfer program and wrap them as MOV, Thanks!

    Hi,

Sony XDCAM EX MXF files should work just fine, you can always email us directly at info@calibratedsoftware.com to help you troubleshoot to see what the possible issue could be.

    Cheers,
    Greg
