Importing .movs
I’ve been working on a PC on a project using several .movs captured by someone on a Mac. We’re aware of the Final Cut codec issue, and exported it so that it would work on my computer. And it did. For a while now I’ve been using the footage with no trouble at all. Today I had to reinstall CS5, though, and now the footage is giving me a message of:
After Effects error: file ‘xxxx.mov’ cannot be imported – this ‘.mov’ file is damaged or unsupported.
Every symptom I see when trying to figure it out points to the Final Cut codec being the issue. For instance, .movs exported from my own computer still work fine. The problem footage has not been touched since I was last working on them, either. The only thing I’ve done is reinstall CS5. Is there some add-on or setting I’ve forgotten in the process? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

What exact codec are we talking about here?
Have you tried using the Adobe update service as this might be a bug which you previously had patched before the re-install.

Can you open this same file from the same disk on the same computer in any other application? Can you copy it to another computer and open it there?
