  • Importing DVCPRO HD footage from FCP to After Effects 7

Does anyone know the correct comp settings for footage that I shot on my HVX in DVCPRO HD 720/24. When I bring in the footage it is too wide for the AE DVCPRO HD 720 Comp Setting and I have to scale the width down to fit in the comp. It also give me aliasing or jaggy problems when I do this.

You have either your comp or footage interpreted incorrectly. You can either interpret your footage as 960×720 (DVCPro HDs native 720p size) or you can create your comp at 1280×720 and leave your footage interpreted as it is now.

After going through FCP (converted to QT on import), my HVX footage at 24p comes in at 1280×720, square pixels. So I just drag it onto the “new comp” button in the project window and get a 1280×720 comp.
