  • Importing compound path from ai to after effects

    HI everyone,

I have searched the web but couldnt find the right answer to my question. I work on a CS4 production premium package. I have a big problem when trying to import a big illustrator file that contains cca. 200 compound paths.

The “release to layers” option doesn’t work for me since there are too much layers.
For me it is quite impossible to make groups of paths since there are so much of them and they are not stacked in order.

I’ve tried importing the whole ai file into after effects, i have chosen the comp option however I only got one single layer which was surprisingly blocky.

So does anyone have an idea…Basically I need to import whole bunch of words and numbers that already been put in a specific design, into separate layers into ae.

    Thanks

    drazen

There is a video tutorial from Aharon Rabinowitz
called “Importing Paths Into After Effects”.

    Maybe it can help you.

Sorry, that tutorial is about masks.

Is your illustration very complex? Maybe is a memory problem.

If you don’t have to animate each part of your images why don’t you just export it as a bitmap from Illustrator and import it to AE?
