If I i render a video out in a very small resolution with no objects .. just the camera . in 3dsmax saved as a rla or rpf and then import the camera data into a HD comp. Will I encounter problems?.. will i get the data? I’m about to have a client do this .. and I wanted to see if anyone had tips or experience with this.

I said render because the after effects help states: to create a rla or rpf file with camera data in 3dsmax, save your rendering in rpf format with coverage, zdepth, alpha channels enabled? I’m not a 3dmax guy.. so do i have to render? or can I just export out tha rla file?

This will not give you paractical, usable results. You can make a camera anim from RPF data generated in MAX,…BUT you also need object position data and other info to truly be able to integrate MAX output into the 3-space of AE.

The only software out there that handles all of this beautifully, including object placement, light animation,..etc..etc…is MAX2AE by http://www.boomerlabs.com Check it out.
