Importing an AE sequence looks bad in AP
I have what I’m sure is a very dumb question. I have an image sequence (rendered with Autodesk Maya at 1280X720) in Adobe After Effects sized at 1280X720 (as seen in the very bottom photo below.) I imported it into Adobe Premiere Pro and scaled it down to 720X480, but it looks awful (as seen in the top photo below.) Is there a way to avoid this degradation in image quality? Would it be better to start from scratch with the size it will end up being (720X480)? I always thought rendering big and scaling down would make it look better? Am I wrong?

An added problem with maintaining clarity for SD widescreen video is that is not sq pixel. The anamorphic nature of SD/DV means the quality will take a hit in that it is being stretched to make widescreen which will make it look poor on a computer, but not that bad on a tv.
