Importing Alpha’s – can a default be set?
I need to import many graphic files, all of which have Premultiplied Alphas.
I know how to set the individual file to the correct type (Black) in item properties, but what i need to know is this..
..is there a way to set FCP so that it defaults to importing all alphas as Black?
Currently it defaults to Straight and that means i have to manually alter every single clip which gets annoying on every graphic i use!!

Not that I know of.
And why the default is STILL incorrect for graphics generated within its own suite of applications is completely beyond me.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
The preset alpha behavior has changed in FCP6. It now conforms to LiveType and Motion projects. The default is still straight, but it changes this for other applications in the suite to premultiplied with black.
