Importing After Effects movies in the FCP HDV project without re-rendering.
I am editing a film in HDV format in Final Cut Pro. The film will use a great many archive photos. I am using AfterEffects version 6.5 to do moves on the photos and output movies that I can use in the Final Cut Pro project. Because I am using so many photographs I would like to be able to render/output movies from AfterEffects that I can play in my FCP timeline without having to re-render them.

Check and see if “Field Rendering” is enabled in the Render Settings. If it is not, select “Upper Frame First” (upper for HDV, lower for DV). If you have created comps with fast motion, try using motion blur (It’s the “M” icon on each layer in the Switches/Modes section).

Use the HDV codec you tried first.

Thank you for this suggestion which I tried. Unfortunately it didn’t work. Also, motion in my shots is not the issue. The playback is erratic even on still images. I am still stumped! Any other suggestions are very welcome.
