    Hi,
I’ve been sent some .ai files. These should be paths yeah? I don’t have illustrator so I can’t open them in that. Is there a way I can import this file to use as a mask, so that in turn I can stroke them? I only have AE5.5 and Cinema8.5.

    Cheers

Do you have Photoshop?Open the ai file in your PS as path, then you can copy the path and paste it into your AE:)

Sorry ,I made a mistake, only when copying and pasting a path from illustrator to PS the window can be available. So the only way I can find is :to open the AI file with PS,select the shape whose edge you wanted to use as the path.Connvert the selection field into a path. Then copy and paste the path into AE.

Sorry because I use a Chinese PS ,I can not tell you the exact menu in English.Wish to be helpful.

    thanks for your help.
The path is much too complex to use the selection tool.
Time to get another license of Illustrator I thinks.

    Thanks for your help
