  • Importing 1080p24 P2 comes in at 29.97

I am trying to import some P2 material that in the log and transfer window says that it was shot at 1080p24 and that it will be transcoded to 1080i60 at 29.97. When I look at it in the browser, it is brought in at DVCProHD 1080p30 at 29.97. After, I go to tools/remove advanced pull down and the picture gets very jittery. I have unchecked remove advanced pull down in the log and transfer options.

I have also tried to go through cinema tools and do a reverse telecine but that option is grayed out.

    Any advice?

To get 23.98 you need to shoot 24pn.

    Have a wonderful day.

24PN is only available in 720p mode. No, to get 23.98 at 1080, you need to shoot 1080pA…progressive ADVANCED. So that you can remove the ADVANCED pulldown. 1080p24 is just the 24p look at 29.97fps.

ok. so it just looks like 24p footage and it’s really 29.97. FCP says it’s 30p. when i use DSP to make a dvd, the image flickers when there is a camera move or lots of action.

so i tried exporting from FCP a 1080i60 format sequence. then i used compressor and kept it interlaced. the flickering is gone but i get the interlaced look on an hd flatscreen. is that the best method and image i can get?

is the only way around it to have shot originally in 1080p24A so that i can truly edit in 24fps?
