  • Imported project lost color effects and fonts – any ideas.

One of our editors gave me their project and it’s without the color effects (built into FCP X) and fonts we both have.

    Scenario:

    Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    FCP X 10.0.7
Both computers have copies of the same media

Export XML of project from one computer

Relink event files pertaining to project – successful

Simple saturation color correction (pulled all color out) using FCP X color tool – not there. Inspector has blue “on” box for Correction 1, but the actual for the saturation reduction are not there.

Basic Titles generator has text, but no font retention. We both have the font – Futura.

    Any ideas?

I don’t think FCPXML carries this information.

You should dupe the project file and reconnect on your machine.

We tried that next. The other editor duplicated the project only. I moved the project folder (at the finder level) into the Final Cut Projects folder on my drive so that FCP X would see it. Then things went crazy. One of my own events lost all the keyword collections. After restarting FCP X, it all came back, but a project assigned to that haywire event had the media missing and now even modifying the event doesn’t even work.

We deleted that project (the one the other editor gave me) immediately as it caused problems.

[Tangier Clarke] “We deleted that project (the one the other editor gave me) immediately as it caused problems.”

Next time, FCPX has to be closed before you mess with the Project directory.

Are each of your Events identical?

Sorry for that lack of detail. I quit FCP X before adding the project to my drives projects folder.

We have identical events – yes.

I haven’t had any issues opening other Projects on other machines so I haven’t seen this before.

Perhaps a pref trash would help.

ANother thing to try would be to add the Project to your home directory on your boot drive just to see if it’s not a directory conflict.
