IMPORTANT!! BLANK mp4/sorenson video3 /quicktime PROBLEMS AND FIX
I ran into a crazy and very frustrating glitch today… I ran the latest Quicktime update, and then found that many of my clips became unreadable– the video showed up blank with only audio. This was rather precarious, considering I have an editing deadline and had tons of clips rendered in formats of mp4 and sorenson video 3 (seemed to be the only two codecs affected…) I will not go into details about all the other problems and unsuccessful solutions. I will simply say that the fix is to revert to the earlier version of Quicktime before the latest update, which in my cast was 7.6 (not 7.66)… maybe this will prevent of ease some headache for others….

Thanks for trying to help others. This was a big topic last week when it happened. An alternate fix is to update to Vegas Pro 9.0d which fixes the problem with Quicktime 7.6.6.

Still using Vegas 8/8.1. Problem also solved for me by upgrading to Quicktime Pro.
