  • Import sequence from another project but link to my own clips – is this possible?

    Hello everyone,

I’m a long-time Avid user starting a PPro Creative Cloud movie edit. I’m using 7.2.1 (4) on a Mac and I do have some previous experience with PPro CS 5.5 and 6.0.

My offline editor is syncing the Red footage with the 2nd system sound in the same version of PPro and I would like to import his sequences. It’s a straightforward process that seems to be working just fine.

However, the result is that I get 2 things when I import – his sequence plus a folder containing all his clips. I have already imported the footage, so my preference would be that his sequence actually LINK to my clips rather than have a second instance of all the raw footage. Incidentally, it truly does seem to be a second instance because although both clips will show the same R3D when you “Reveal in Finder” only his clips have the indicator that they are being used in a timeline, and the two clips can have different ins and outs when loaded in the source monitor from the bin.

If I cannot avoid this behavior, I will simply delete my clips since I haven’t started using them yet. I just wondered if there was an easy workaround.

As an aside, I also noticed that I have duplicate peak files generated for the clips that are duplicated, which seems like it could cause trouble down the line.

    Any advice is welcomed.

    Thanks!

You can offline his clips, and then reconnect to your own. The new relink tool lets you browse to a folder and choose to relink here.
