I just received some out-of-house animation files. They were created using Animation codec, field rendered, No alpha, 720×468, 29.97, Lower-field.

After I import them and play them, they flicker like a flipped-field dominance problem. I tried adding the ‘shift field’ filter (either +/-), but no dice, still have the same flicker.

When you watch it on the desktop with QT player, they look fine. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Just a guesss.

What is the resolution? If the image resolution is too “large” (dense) for TV resolution, the small details can “dance” on-screen.

    Try adding:

Video Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur

Set it to a very low amount and then check it on an external video monitor as you make further adjustments.

Figured it out. Animator error. He rendered part of his animation in upper, then combined it together with something in lower and sent me something with mixed dominance.

I thought I was crazy, but it was him! Those guys need to sleep more!
