If I import a quicktime file into Premiere, the operating system (Mac OSX) shows that the file has been modified. This is bothersome because I don’t want those dates being changed.

This occurs simply on Import into Premiere. I haven’t saved the premiere project file, nor did I add markers or even bring the clip from the bin to a viewer window.

Anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

    Preferences>media

Uncheck write XMP ID to files upon import. The setting spans AE as well.

Yes, I had a whole FCPX project go rotten because I fell into the same trap. I chose to blame FCPX for not being able to reconnect, and ditched it in favour of Premiere Pro CC. Have not regretted.
